What's the Difference Between "Apaato" and "Manshon" in Japan?
In Japan, both "apaato" and "manshon" are apartment buildings where many people live. But the way they are built is different, so their names are different too.
What Is an "Apaato"?

An "apaato" is usually made of wood or light metal. These buildings are often small and only have two floors.
Students and people who live alone often choose an apaato. Because they are made of wood, they don’t block sound well and are weaker against earthquakes and fire. But they are cheap to build, so the rent is usually low.
